Does Acne No More Work?

If you are considering buying Acne No More and was wondering if it actually works, then this post is for you. The program is a comprehensive detoxification regimen, and going through it creates beneficial changes in your body that are certain to help with acne. On the other hand it misses a few crucial factors behind acne and contains a few less than optimal recommendations. Take a few minutes to go through this post and you should have a clear understanding if Acne No More works, and if it’s something you want to go through.

What is Acne No More

Acne No More is to your body what spring cleaning is to your house, at least in theory. At the core it’s an 8-week detoxification program. Acne No More asks you to complete several short fasts, perform several organ cleanses (such as the liver flush and kidney cleanse), and make changes into your diet. You’ll also find instructions on stress management and other relevant areas. For more comprehensive overview, please see the Acne No More review page.

If that sounds like a lot, it is. Going through Acne No More is no walk in the park and you are likely to look at perhaps the hardest 2 months in your life.

But is it really worth it? Does Acne No More work?

How Acne No More can help you

Acne No More has some strong points that are going to help your skin. Let’s go over them briefly.

Going through all the fasts and cutting a lot of foods out of your diet means you will eat fewer calories than you normally would. And several studies have shown that caloric restriction helps with insulin resistance and chronic inflammation (the two root causes behind acne). So this will help your skin a lot.

The diet is also fairly restrictive, and it excludes most common trigger foods. Trigger foods are food items that aggravate acne. Trigger foods of course vary from person to person, but there are some foods that are almost universally bad for people with acne (such as wheat and dairy products). So if you can stick to the diet you can expect to see good results on your skin.

The detoxification regimen also gives your body some well-deserved rest. And after going through it you can expect everything to run a bit more smoothly.

Finally, there’s the placebo effect, and it’s really nothing to sneeze at. As you go through the program you really feel like you are doing something for your skin.

Unfortunately all these positive points are shadowed by few severe drawbacks.

Why Acne No More might not work

By far the biggest flaw in the program is that it’s almost insanely strict. Going through it means making huge sacrifices. You won’t be going out with your friends or eating out at restaurants during the program. All this makes the program hugely impractical to follow.

And this would be fine for a while, but what happens when the program is over. The benefits are largely based on caloric restriction and avoiding trigger foods, and there’s only so long that you can keep doing these. Once you go back to a more normal diet and lifestyle you will lose a lot of the benefits. This could mean acne coming back.

You could probably maintain clear skin even if you cut yourself some slack after the program is over. The problem is that the book doesn’t include any guidelines on how much you can cut back and on which areas. So you are left to figure this out for yourself.

Not only is the diet overtly restrictive, but it’s also too heavy on carbohydrates. Studies after studies have shown that acne victims get better results with diets that restrict carbohydrates.

Verdict: Does Acne No More Work?

So what’s the bottom line with Acne No More. Does it work?

Considering all the pros and cons most people that can complete the Acne No More program can expect good results. It’s impossible to say if the program can get you completely clear, but you should see big changes on your skin.

On the other hand the results may not last. It’s unrealistic to complete the program, go back to your old diet and lifestyle and expect the results to lasts.

So how much long term benefit you’ll get from Acne No More depends on how many permanent changes to your diet and lifestyle you make after completing the program. Because acne and getting clear has more to do with what you do consistently than with any one off detoxification regimens.

And this raises the question. If you make such permanent changes to your diet and lifestyle, do you need to go through a strict and impractical detoxification program like Acne No More? And the answer is no. Such a program can get you clear faster, but it’s not what getting clear is all about.

Acne No More Review – Good Program With A Few Serious Drawbacks

Acne No More is one of the best selling acne ebooks online. It contains a 6 to 8 week detoxification program and promises to permanently cure your acne. The author, Mike Walden, has created a solid program that often helps those who can follow it to the letter. On the other hand the program also has some significant downsides that make it a no go for many. In this review we’ll take an objective and hype-free look at Acne No More program so that you can decide if it’s the right choice for you.

What Is Acne No More?

At the core Acne No More is a comprehensive and strict detoxification program. It’s divided into 5 Pillars.

  • Pillar 1: Cleansing and flushing – this section takes your through various cleanses and flushes, such as the liver flush, colon cleanse and kidney cleanse. The aim is to bring theseorgans back to balance and optimal function levels.
  • Pillar 2: Nutrition, Supplementation and Candida Elimination – this part focuses on providing your body the nutrients it requires and eliminating obstacles that prevent you from getting clear, such as Candida overgrowth.
  • Pillar 3: Detoxification – the detox section helps you to get rid of the ‘toxic buildup’ that’s supposed to be at the root of acne. The program contains detox diets followed by juice fasting.
  • Pillar 4: Stress Control and Sleep Optimization – as the name implies this section focuses on stress management and sleep, both of which are extremely important to clear skin
  • Pillar 5: Natural Skin Plan – this section covers external skin care. You’ll learn several recipes for effetively treating acne with home remedies. This is one of my favorite sections of the book.

These 5 Pillars are the core of the program. In addition to them, you’ll find a section on dealing with acne scars.

Now that you have an overview of the program, let’s see if it actually works.

Does It Work?

Yes, it works, but not for everybody. The program hits many of the root causes behind acne. Following the strict detox diets likely eliminates most of your trigger foods. Furthermore, detox diets and fasting creates caloric deficiency. Caloric deficiency reduces insulin resistance and cools down chronic inflammation, both of which are real root causes behind acne.

On the other hand, Acne No More doesn’t cover the emotional factor behind acne adequately. Psychological factors are implicated in as many as 50% of all adult acne cases.

The program may also not be a permanent cure. What happens when you finis the detoxification program? If you go back to your old diet and lifestyle you can expect your acne to come back at some point. On the other hand, if you maintain correct diet and lifestyle it’s possible to expect lasting results.

These factors help to explain the mixed customer feedback. A lot of people at acne forums praise the program and the effect it had on their skin. That said, it’s also easy to read comments from people who have followed it to the letter without big changes on their skin.

What’s Good About It?

Acne No More is one of the better acne treatment programs on the market. It’s an extremely solid program and covers most of the factors behind acne and the ares are covered in detail. Even if you already know a lot about natural health you are sure to pick some new information from there.

The book is 248 pages and full of solid content without fluff or filler. And more importantly, the program works. If you follow it to the letter you should see results on your skin.

But as good as Acne No More is, it’s not perfect.

Downsides

The program has a few severe drawbacks and because of them I hesitate to recommend it too highly. First, it is going to require a significant financial commitment. The book itself is $40, but you are going to have to spend a couple of hundred dollars for all the supplements and cleanses, and invest into a juicer if you don’t have one. Mike Walden says that these are necessary for completing the program.

Second, if you start on the program you are looking for perhaps the hardest 2 months in your life. The diet is strict and requires you to cut out all but the healthiest foods, for example you should eat 75% of your foods raw and are only allowed one cooked meal per day. And for all practical purposes the diet is vegetarian. You are also required to complete several detoxes during the 2-month period. Needles to say, this requires absolute commitment and determination.

This was summarized well by one customer at acne.org forums: “i bought it, but decided that i’d prefer to live a little with acne than sacrifice all of life’s luxuries as he suggests

Mike also asks you to limit your fat and protein intake. This makes the diet inevitably high in carbohydrates. For many acne victims this is a big mistake because acne is linked to insulin hormone. More insulin you have in the blood usually means more acne, and the more carbohydrates you eat the more insulin your body is going to produce.

Thirdly, the program is based on quack theories. It’s based on the flawed idea that toxic overload is the primary cause behind acne. And hence the requirement for intense detoxification. Detoxification is certainly healthy, to a point, but one doesn’t have to go to such extremes with it.

Conclusion

Acne No More is still one of the better acne programs in the market. Without the few serious drawbacks it could even be the best acne ebook. If you have a few hundred dollars to spare, and can muster the commitment and determination the program requires, you can expect to see decent improvements on your skin. And while you are at it, modify the dietary recommendations so that they make more sense to people with acne.

Is Acne No More the right choice for you? Only you can answer that, but now you have all the facts (and none of the hype) you need to make the right choice for you.
